Watch out for old Henry VIII over there. With his great gushing and his impatient chopping block.

There's something about those "great gutteral gushes...spraying spit," right? This was odd text to find in a children's book! Of course I jumped right on it, and on the next spread, the spit becomes rain...."

"I would guess it might be difficult to behead an invisible princess."
Indeed. This is my supposition. Becoming more and more invisible as we speak, so as to avoid beheading... by the world, by my own inability to "fit," by exhaustion, by worldly wheel spinning, etc... etc... etc...
I rather like being invisible and shall just continue to become princess (or even a "smart" Queen?) of my own little world, in my little art hermitage (fit for a princess/queen). I am, more and more, invisible to the world, but decloak (like the Klingnons... sp?... on Star Trek) occasionally, for hubby, doggie, and when a few students visit at end of day.
Wink.

The journal is entirely about world-building, as you will see as I post more of the story. Our heroine takes steps to fit in, and the happy ending erupts when she realizes she has always fit in...just in a world of her own construction, not the one that calls to the many.

Ah, sounds like my story. I love it. Awesome.
I think you have created a story here which has so much to say to all of us. It takes each human different amounts of time, and different amounts and types of experiences to get to that realization. Yes, a world of our own construction is what we need and where each of us fit.
Sadly, I am not sure some ever come to this conclusion or explore it. For some it is easier to just live in the constrains of the "real world." Some tend to fit the requirements of the world with more ease, but one wonders if they ever really explore and find their potential for uniqueness, expression and fulfillment that way.
Others, like myself (and many here on DA and all over the earth) find, I think, they have little choice but to make that world of their own construction. So interesting.
A wonderful, iconic, metaphoric story you have made here, with great meaning for those who encounter it... Go you!

My schedule has become frantic. I need Merton power. You are on my reading list for this weekend.

Oh dear! I am sorry to hear that. The dastardly, peace-stealing world is doing its number on you, huh? "Hey, I am just doing my job!" says the world. Arggg. Just when we get things peaceful, creative, calm and flowing along nicely... the world gets up to its "make your life full of minutia, stress, worries" tricks! Best of luck getting things less frantic. It is our constant work, isn't it, this de-frantic-ing of our lives? Ah well, the plight of we humans!
Hang in there!

Thank you so much, Laura!
It is so nice to have such a thoughtful and faithful audience member. My audience is not huge, but I sure appreciate (and hope that I am helpful to) those who do read my pieces. I just wrote a long response to one of your comments, which I turned into a literary deviation. It is so great to have readers, feedback, and inspiration for more writing, here on DA!
Hope your Saturday is a good one. Hubby is out taking doggie to the groomer, going to Zumba, shopping, meeting a friend etc. I am home being art hermit-ish, writing, doing my usual routine... might do some work on a new, big art piece. Finished the big owl painting and hope to post it soon. That is what is up with me.
Good thoughts and vibes to you from the art hermitage-
Peace,
M
