Acrylic on Canvas, 18" wide X 36" tallStatus: Sold
This was a surprisingly fast knife-and-brush painting. I think it's because I had the picture in my head for a while. This is my parent's back yard in Kamloops.
They have a little spot above their fireplace that is just perfect for an 18" x 36" canvas. We were trying to think of what could go there, and we happened to look outside... well, why not the backyard? There are these three trees that I could stretch onto a tall skinny canvas. Here's the source photo . My dad kept sending me photos as more and more leaves dropped off and the colors got brighter.
Anyway, it turned out well and it didn't take long. They're pretty happy with it.

Oh, I think the source photo is pretty awesome as well! It is fun to exaggerate, no? Truthfully... I think everyone does, whether in telling stories to others or storing their own memories. Imagination is better than reality.

Thank you so much! Sometimes it comes together easily, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't grow up with this view, alas: this was after I moved out and *then* my parents built their dream house, which we love going to now. Plus they have lots of walls to decorate and they happily feed my painting hobby.
BTW, I love your clouds in County Road 9 .
