Species Information: When sailors first started taking to the seas, they used Hammeranks body structure as inspiration to invent the anchor, holding their heavy ships in place. By doing so, Hammeranks tend to become intrigued with these anchors, and often believe they were their own kind. They would attack the ships thinking they were capturing friends of theirs. For awhile these pokemon were considered a bad omen to see. It was the Nautech who were able to resolve this misunderstanding between the Hammerank and the sailors. Now the two groups work together.

Dex Entry: The power of these pokémon is legendary amoungst sailors. Their bodies are composed of a rust proof alloy that's harder than steel and heavy enough to weigh down ships. There are records of them pulling floundering vessels to harbor.
