i can has moar ASOIAF laydeez?Arianne Martell, the Princess in the Tower. I surprised myself by drawing her; she's not my favorite character. Sure she's feisty and sexy, but she basically started a war of entitlement. Doran Martell was all like "facepalm."
Continuing to experiment with textures... I guess I'm making a series?? Who's your favorite ASOIAF lady? Any requests??

Haha, I think you summed up my own feelings about Arianne perfectly, and you captured her feisty expression perfectly too! I love the sheer draped fabric in her costume too, it really gives a sense of exoticism to the poicture which suits her Dornish style.

This is superb. I can't think of Arianne Martell without thinking of Ser Arys Oakheart's bizarre fascination with her enormous nipples. You know who I wanna see! Osha! Or Yggritte!

Oh hey, you have her too! I feel bad--the Martells are now my second favorite house, but I rushed through AFFC and only read it once so I can't remember a darn thing about their plotline. Argh. I'm rereading the series, but it'll be a while until I'm there. I'm sure I'll think of Arianne in a better light once I get to it.
Anyway, I love the shadow with the palms. I also like the eastern look of her drapery. The midriff part reminds me of a classical statue (e.g. Nike of Samothrace). Her skin is a bit more tanned than I would have expected, iirc the Martells are "salty" Dornishmen, so they have an olive/Mediterranean complexion, but this looks nice enough that I'm fine with it.
As for favorite ASOIAF lady--well, Daenerys is my favorite but you've done her already. Sansa would be amazing; not sure if you've drawn her yet. I mislike all the hate she generates.

I was watching all your beautiful ASOIAF girls' portrait and I must say they ADORABLE! very well drawn, well characterized, full of lovely details. Nice colors and nice way to color. Nice style and expression.

Absolutely wonderful portrait! However, Arianne actually attempted a bloodless coup against her father, because she thought she was being disinherited on account of being female. The war was against the Lannisters, and had nothing to do with anything except vengeance.

I am wowed by this. Arianne was never my favourite either, but I think she is a very strong-willed woman and I respected her- and I really think you've done a fantastic job at expressing her personality in pose and facial expression alone. I can totally imagine her way better now. I also really love the way you dressed her - it's all warm colours and really goes a long way to define her as well.
I would put my vote in for Arya because she is definately my favourite!

Thank you! Err, yeah, I had to use an ASOIAF wiki to remind me how she's described physically...I had no mental image before I started drawing this. I think my brain was like "uhhh, bratty dusky-skinned princess in a desert palace...Princess Jasmine???"

As for requests, well another popular female character is Daenerys, and Arya, and then Cersei is a big deal no matter what you think of her personally. Same for Melisandre, she tends to make for great art actually, it could be fun to try to incorporate "eastern" elements. There's some cool side characters like the Mormont women, or Olenna Tyrell or her granddaughter Margaery. Brienne would be interesting as an atypical unfeminine woman?

Mmm, mmm...good suggestions all! Melisandre is tough, because there's so much great art of her (she's a very visually vivid character) so I'd feel obliged to do something completely different. But I love sketching Margaery, I do it all the time! Aiya, too many laydeez, I'll get to them all eventually...

You could go really obscure if you wanted, for example Quaithe sounds pretty vivid too but there's little fanart out there of her. Ashara Dayne has a lot of romantic aura around her, but there isn't really an established look for her yet. On the topic of the Martells I'm fond of Elia too, it'd be interesting to see your take on the official royal garb.
