He's an amazingly talented director, and actor, and i had to honor him in some way, yes?
soo glad his outfit was simple.... I HATE PAINTING CLOTHES!!! >.< i suck at it.
I wanted to and tried to add some blood in there somehow.. but no matter what i did and what i changed the bg color to it just didnt look right
Total time in photoshop cs4 - 10 hours (including 1 hr and 30 minutes of dinking around time when i tried to put blood in.)

Hoooly crap. I spent about five minutes wondering if that was an insane beard or something...the lips should probably stand out a little more, but otherwise I think your cropping choices and lighting look great.
The next step for this is adding textures. I've never got the hang of digital painting so I can't link you to any tutorials, but my favorite solution is to use custom brushes in overlaid blended layers.
Maybe he could have a splatter of blood behind him?

i dinked around with a blood splatter for awhile but it just didnt look right.. it made it look, idk, busy i think is the word i want?
i know its a wierd photo that i picked of him and that people would be confused, thats why i included a link to the original photo lol!

Yep; looks like he's got some scrub under the...whatever's on his face, too--considering the simple composition and strong colors, this looks like a good one to try out textures.

i have some skin texture brushes that i made for when i do photo retouching, and they work well for that... maybe i should try them on this painting! ^_^

Haha that pic creeps me out a little bit, but you did an amazing job on it, the eyes and hair rock, and the way you paint skin is extra cool!!!
