Description A sneak preview of a new system tray program which brings a completely redesigned 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' menu.

Windows 7 is a great OS but once you start to look at it a little closer, inconsistencies start to emerge.

The menu is a blatant oversight the developers at Microsoft included in Windows 7. It does not conform to the rest of the system tray dialogs, hangs for a brief second when right-clicked and hasn't been touched since Windows XP.

So where the heck is it most of your apps don't even work with the current .net framework at all all of them error except your network one! I'm guessing you wrote most of these in visual C# b/c in my mind its probably the easiest language to write these type of apps in? Tell me if I'm wrong please? I know I'm not actually lol. So please upload this ones source code if you can so I can fix it if possible? I'be been a programmer for 20 years and I'm quite good I'd just like the source for it and for you to tell me what you wrote it in so its not a problem when I import it into another Studio if you hand over the source send me a PM please if you're willing to give me the source... Oh and I'd also like the source for your profile pic program as well to fix that... Your final has critical errors your first release which was hard to find but I found it works but still has errors in x64 windows 7. As the person below said I'd happily fix in about a half hour give or take!

I've been really meaning to release this but it keeps slipping my mind. Everything is finished though not feature complete - a settings window is still needed to be coded but planned.

That's the system tray icon for Device Stage. It's actually supposed to be a lighthouse but I can see where it might look like a pagoda.

Good news to everyone that has been looking forward to this. I recently had some time to work on this project again and have gotten pretty close to an initial release. I'm currently shooting for the end of the week at the latest. Everything works, with disc drives getting physically ejected and USB devices being disconnected. It notices when drives are ejected regardless of the way it's ejected.

I just need a couple of hours to work up a settings window and add language support. Now's the last chance to get your feature suggestions in before the release. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back to it in the coming weeks / months.

When do you think you can release it? This would come in real handy.

laushung In reply to rcmero [2012-02-08 08:04:31 +0000 UTC]

I ran out of time to work on the settings window. I'm going to try and find a couple of hours to do that this week.

I know it's been a long wait but I'd rather make sure everything is working correctly before releasing it instead of releasing something that might have glitches.

Having said that, I have been testing it privately for the last couple of weeks without having the need to restart it so it looks like I've gotten rid of most of the bugs.

laushung In reply to Kishan-Bagaria [2012-01-06 13:06:33 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. I completely agree. I hope there's a more elegant solution for ejecting these types of devices in Windows 8.

Kishan-Bagaria In reply to laushung [2012-01-06 15:31:09 +0000 UTC]

M$ leaves many dialogs ugly and untouched unlike Apple. You won't find any UI inconsistency in Lion or Snow Leopard whereas Windows 8 still includes the age-old drive format dialog, registry editor and numerous other dialogs.

I found some time earlier this week to come back to this. There are still one or two things I'd like to finish though before releasing. I hope to find a couple hours some time in the next week.

eelektro [2011-09-16 17:57:23 +0000 UTC]

Its would be better if with hower you can see the full name letter etc....

but the cool thing will be if you make like in my computer that blue bar witch shows how fuul/empty is drive .. and in side small eject buton...

Its should be one click (like calendar)...
+ you can add some popups .. when like flash is connected .

OH thats the thing

laushung In reply to eelektro [2011-09-17 03:15:07 +0000 UTC]

I've addressed many of things you've suggested in the newer version. It has one-click eject buttons, popups when drives are inserted, ect. A graph showing the available storage is a good idea and will look into adding that.

I'm hoping to have some free time to revisit this in the near future and have something ready for release soon.

Its would be great soft .. so useful

+ other thing what is on my mind is that the icon near the clock on the Notification area .. it should maybe something like show desktop button easy access ... maybe could add some 3 sec interval to auto show like desktop bt..

It will be soo cool app

what do you think how much time do you need?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

laushung In reply to xjannikx [2011-05-27 18:04:10 +0000 UTC]

Not very long at all if I can find the time. Between several other projects in the works and recovering from a minor heart attack things have slowed a little.

It's nearly complete - I just need to set up the menus and the buttons for ejecting the drives. After that, it's just some cosmetic things (icons, etc) and it'll be ready.

Best case scenario would be mid-June.

In the mean time, you may want to check out what else is soon to be available. [link]
