Description The stormy, wet days are taking over what was left of Autumn. Yesterday we even had our first snow in my town. (Though it melted on touching ground.) But here is one more sunny picture. I hope I’m able to make photo’s of my BJD in snow this winter.

I absolutely love how Regan is posed here! He looks so casual and for once not as ‘emo’. And… do I detect a little bit of a smile there?

Thank you!

Prepare for a lot of trial and error. Use lots of references. Perhaps find someone near so you can hold an actual BJD and see how it works. Denofangels.com has a lot of information, as you should know - so do take a look there as well!

A little late that I think of it... but have you tried looking at bodies on company sites? They often show a lot of photos about the joints and such.

If go visit other companies, I'm sure you'll manage to find out how the body works.

That be awesome if you could! ^w^

I manage to find a BDJ at JunkySpot.com for about say $250 for a 60cm. So maybe I can still try saving for one! Just in case my plan A option fails. Good to have plan B right? XD

I don't know junkyspot, but just in case - I warn you to make sure you know it's not a recast. (There's a lot going on about recasts on the dutch forums.)

recast?

Lavandula-BJD In reply to TsukiLunaray [2011-12-20 23:05:51 +0000 UTC]

That is a "fake" doll.
People who recast take a doll from a company. Make a mold from it and then make new dolls with cheap resin and what not to sell. It's illegal and the companies will lose money and people end up with cheap dolls that are fake.

You weren't frightened if he fell?

Thank you!

You'd be surprised to know I've balanced him on smaller ledges. Or higher places. [link]
In this shot, his boots were pushing pretty hard against the trunk, so it kept him in place quite well! I could pose him in all kinds of ways without having to fear him falling. I think Rayne was balancing a little more dangerously in this shot ([link] ) but even she wouldn't move a hair.

OMG,that's crazy!
I hear BJD'S are good with balance but i wouldn't know...yet.
Your really good posing/trusting them!^-^
Did any of your dolls fall yet?

It all depends on the doll really. Each doll is different and it's a matter of the right stringing and the type of joints and everything. (Surface if where they are standing etc)

Actually.. yes, they have fallen before. The first week I had Regan (who you see on the branch here), he fell from the couch. He had black spots in his face I thankfully managed to remove without harming his face-up too much. And the first day I had Rayne, my little girl, she fell from the table (about 3 feet+ high.) Her head-cap was on the other side of the room, but she had no injuries. None.

Now-a-days she sadly has a small crack in her knee-joint, so I'm always checking her knee. But until it breaks I can use it normally. Just carefully.

Ya,that makes sense of course!
AW,face forward hurts for dolly's to,lol. At least the face up survived.
Ek,well,a body can be replaced if needed.

If needed, but it does cost quite a bit! (And the older they are, the more they are prone to yellow..so there's a bit of a risk in that too. Thankfully there are people that can fix certain things with Apoxy clay. ^^)

Then the company resin is also different depending where you go too,so that makes it even harder.
LOL,didn't think of that, but ya that works!
