I'm stuck at step 3... When I select the 2 shapes and intersect, but results in the grey shape and deletes the black circle... What am i doing wrong?

My dear friend, you should COPY and PASTE in front the black circle, select COPY of the black circle and grey shape and click intersect from pathfinder box

This is the best bubble/glass/marble tut I have seen for illustrator. I dont think I will use the exact same shapes but it gave me somewhere to start thank you so much.
