I don't know, I heard of hammies who always bit and just ran away.
My darling wasn't like that.
Even my current hamster wasn't as curious and lovely as her, but still a cutie. 8<3>

a bit more puggy than my kit-kat was though... do you have a wheel in her cage?

Yeah I do. She runs in it a lot.

Though mum and dad tend to feed her to much goodies Whenever I give her some, I never know how many she got fed by my parents already 8lC>

Well... if you stay up long, hamsters sure are good pets.

But even though they wake up at night, sometimes the get out in daytime, and you can have fun with them.

Which is why I'm getting a Hamster ball for mine. I'd be scared of loosing him, and there are allot of places in this house for him to hide.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LazyBasy In reply to Panda-Jenn [2012-11-23 09:45:08 +0000 UTC]

I am not... really fond of hamsterballs. I don't think they're healthy, because they don't get enough fresh air and it is stressful for them.
So I rather let my hamster play outside and keep an eye on him instead of letting it run free in a plastic ball.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Panda-Jenn In reply to LazyBasy [2012-11-23 10:26:12 +0000 UTC]

I had no idea. I always keep hearing how much they love them. My biggest fear of owning one is then running away or wedging themselves somewhere.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LazyBasy In reply to Panda-Jenn [2012-11-23 15:58:05 +0000 UTC]

Well I googled and all I read was 'bad air circulation' and 'stress' since they cannot feel or smell their environment due to the plastic aroun dthem. Plus it gets really warm because of the bad circulation, and the danger of them bumping against the plastic ball when they fall down somewhere still stays. Not to mention the biting the plastic. so no, I am not really fond of these things.

Yeeeah... hamsters are sneaky bastards. xD Mine kept staring at me, and if I turned my hea daway he'd run. They're smarter than you might think hahah. Just make sure there aren't many places he can hide. I put stuff in the crannies between the wall and my cupboard and made sure not to let my fluffball get close to the cables.

Panda-Jenn In reply to LazyBasy [2012-11-23 22:11:19 +0000 UTC]

I see. Well I ended up getting him one just in case. The one I have is vented, so hopefully he'll get plenty of air circulation. I'd like to get him to a point where he can sit on my bed with and find a spot to stretch out. He actually managed to get out of my grip while I was trying to get him in the cage a couple of times. He's quite slippery and I was trying not to grip him too tight. The second he got free, he flew right for my bedroom door. Thank God it was closed. He managed to chew a whole through the box I brought him home in. The girl at Petco doubled boxed him, as we kinda figured that would happen. I was sure to get him plenty of food, treats, bedding, chew toys, and the cage I got came with everything, food dish, water bottle, weel and even food and bedding. I got extra just to be sure. I even got a book on Hamster care. If there's anything I've learned from watching my cousin's rabbit, it's rodents love to chew, cables and cords especially. That's something I worry about with Sammy.

LazyBasy In reply to Panda-Jenn [2012-11-23 22:42:08 +0000 UTC]

I remember the first days, I was so scared to grip my hamster because I din want to hurt her but I didn't want to drop her because she was trying to slip free. They are so agile!
They kind of have a sense for doors and cables, they always run towards them. We kept the door closed too, and my hamsters always got frustrated and chewed on my carpet.
I remember one time when I put my hammie on the bed, she was kind of pissed because appearantly she didn't want to leave the cage at that moment and she...
well she peed on my bed in protest. That lil rascal xD
Hamster pee is one of the most awful things my nose ever had to endure haha.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Panda-Jenn In reply to LazyBasy [2012-11-23 23:03:15 +0000 UTC]

That they are. Oh Lord, chewing the carpet? I'd worry about that since this house is rented. I'll be keeping a very good eye on him. I pretty much want to keep him in my room, though I think my cousin will try to encourage him being in the living room, since I know he's curious about how he'll interact with the rabbit. Hence why I got the ball, I don't want to risk him flying behind or underneath something.

Oh wow! I can already tell that Sam is gonna be fun. He's full of piss and vinegar. Last week I went to petco to look at Hamsters and price out all the equipment. I found out today I would get half off on everything, so I that's why I waited. When I first saw him, I fell in love with him. He seemed to full of life and personality.

LazyBasy In reply to Panda-Jenn [2012-11-23 23:12:23 +0000 UTC]

My hammies mostly stayed in my room. But I used to take them out befor egoing to bed, visiting dad in the living room, and there they'd discover the sofa lol

Yeh D:

I remember my first hamster... my mum din want any pets so dad and I planne dit behind he rback. Bought the cage and let it stay at granny's, then went to the pet shop to take a look at the hammies. Just to take a look. But they took off the house and my first dearie, pari, looked up, and stretched and wa sso curious... that dad just decided to get her and take her home.

And Toffee... well.. I wanted another Teddy hamster after Pari but they just had two rathe rugly looking black Teddies ... so I grabbed one of the goldies. Appearantly taking it away from its other sibling. Then I noticed there wa ssomething moving under the black teddies (they were FAT. really. xD ) and I saw those fatties SLEPT on a little white fluffball. And oh my god, he wriggled himself free from beneath them and run onto the roof of their house an dlooked at us. AND I JUST COULDN'T LEAVE HIM THERE with those mean black hamsters ;_;

Aweeeee, yeah I feel kinda bad about separating Sam from his cage mate. he was a darker brown short hair and they were snuggling together. I can only afford the one Hammie, so I got Sam. Too bad, it would have been nice to get the other so he could have a Deanster.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LazyBasy In reply to Panda-Jenn [2012-11-24 00:01:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh don't worry, you shouldn't keep hamsters together anyway (unless they're siblings and have never been sepeated) but yeah they're pretty much loners, so it doesn't matter that much.
Also, you know, Sam and Dean always find back to each other. If on earth or hell, or heaven or elsewhere.
