Description Very often when they were in the same pool, Cupid the bottlenose would come to the glass to play. He was SOOO playful, but Shouka didn't want to play so much this time, because she was so interested in Cupid. She was always chasing him. So often when Cupid came to the glass, Shouka came up from behind him. She was always jealous when he gave his attention to us instead of playing with her.

They are such a cute couple. ;D

Not very often you see orca's with other whales/dolphins I remember a pair here in the US that performed with three commerson dolphin's before the place was bought by Sixflags There is one other orca, Lolita I think is her name, that performs with dolphins at Miami Aquarium. Cute couple

Mine too. But she certainly makes the most out of her lonely situation so I really admire her.

And Cupid is such a sweetie.

To France?
She definitely would if she had a choice, I think. But she would be heart broken to go home to see that both her parents have died.

Yes, bu at least she wouldn't be alone anymore, and she'd be with her beloved Valentin again...How did they dare destroying such a close brotherhood ?!

I know. Shouka's story is really heartbreaking. When I saw her last year, she was very depressed. She seemed so lonely... I felt like crying, you could just feel her sadness, then. T_T

But she truly seems happier now. I hope someday she can see her siblings though.

Shouka has two tankmates. Merlin, a 25 year old dolphin, and on the 25th she was introduced to a young dolphin (6-8 yeas old) named Cupid. He was found stranded on a beach years ago.

Shouka is really friendly! Some orcas will kill dolphins if we put them in one tank... Like Nami-chan
Cute shot!

Thank you!

I wonder about Nami, I know they moved her to where Ku used to live, which was a tank with tons of dolphins... Either they moved the dolphins or Nami may be introduced to the dolphins later. Who knows?

I don't think so. Nami is separated from dolphins and they are rebuilding tank so dolphins won't be able to swim with Nami. She don't like dolphins.

Oh okay I see.

I feel sad that Nami has been alone for so long. But I guess introducing to dolphins this late in her life is too dangerous, especially because she is a transient.

I saw recent videos of Nami on youtube and she is peacefully swimming together with the dolphins

Yeah!! I couldn't believe that! I heard somewhere Nami was a bit aggressive, so I was like "Hmmm, I wonder if they'll let her hang out with the dolphins like Ku..."
It's really great, I guess she was pretty lonely over in Taiji. ><

yeah I agree. Its a pity she was kept alone for so many years. And I believe a social animal should always be with its own kind, so I think the Bottlenose dolphins are not a real replacement for other orcas. I hope maybe one day another orca can be moved to be her companion but it could be difficult, seeing that Kshamenk is the only other transient orca in captivity as far as I know.
