Brier Hill, right? Β Erie Lackawanna used to have a small enginehouse and yard here. Β

Took some photos there back in the 1970s. Β I met my GF in 1986, she lives in nearby McDonald OH. Β We drove into Youngstown one day and went by the yard and it was deja vu when I saw it again. Β EL used to keep Baldwin diesel switchers there, and some of the relatively rare Lima-Hamiltons switcher worked there as well. Β EL's Alco Centuries and the Fairbanks-Morse Trainmasters were also assigned out there for iron ore trains out of Cleveland.

This is beautiful... seems so serene and peaceful. Like a quiet end to the glory it must have once been.

Thanks!
It's hard to believe that 40 years ago this was a major rail hub and steel producing town.

You know, that old spinner just might be put back into service some day. It might even fit a Gp40...

Hopefully, but i doubt it. It's sat unused for about 20+ years.

I wish I could have seen this one in action. Just one of the few reminders of Youngstown's once successful steel industry. There were a couple more but I can't find them.

Thanks! I think it might be from NYC or P&LE. I wish I could have seen ot in action.

I wanted it to look desolate since the area is so run down. The black and white was the icing on the cake.

Have any more history on this turn table?

I'll have to do some research, but I think it might have beonged NYC or P&LE. They both had lines through this area. Back in the day this area was full of steel mills.
