Description
In all mummy movies there is always one constant plot point/beat that occurs: the person who will end up being the mummy gets mummified while still alive.

Take this scene for instance...

Woman (back to camera): You will pay for spunning my affection! My kiss on thy bandaged lips the last thing thou will feel in this world. My face and form the last thing thou will see before thou are sent to the land of the dead and Osiris. Know thee eternal regret for rejecting me and that thou will never see me again in this life for while I reincarnate thou will be trapped forever in thy sarcophagus.

Mummified woman: Nmmpph! Nmmpph! Hmmpphh!

The rest of the movie then goes something like this: the first girl is reincarnated but as a nicer person who knows nothing of the scene above becoming the heroine of the movie, the mummy is then found (either deliberatly or accidently) and awakened. The mummy starts wandering around looking for the reincartaion of the first woman, killing all they come arcross in the process.

So mummy movies from Universal to Hammer to whoever is doing one these days has two points in common: the fear of being buried alive, and the fear of the dead coming back to life.
