From Hazepool City, the second Gym Leader of Dyrona, Paulson, "The Toxic Biker Boss!"

When the position for Leader of the Hazepool Gym was open, Paulson and his gang took it in a flash. They haven't caused as much trouble as they used to since then, but Paulson is still particularly gruff and rude. He rebuilt the inside of the Gym into a motorcycle obstacle course, where he and his underlings spend more time riding their bikes than training their Pokemon. Unlike most Gym Leaders, he's not really admired by many people in town. Not only is he rarely in the mood for taking on challengers, he also sometimes forgets to reward his foes when they best him in battle.

His Gym is unique because it actually encourages potential challengers to ride their bicycles indoors. Aspiring trainers must maneuver through an obstacle course and battle Bikers and Roughnecks (most of which were members of Paulson's old gang) along the way. At the end of the course, in his own little looping track, is Paulson. However, he's too busy riding his motorbike off of the same ramps over and over again to even notice other people. Of course, there's a switch nearby that'll make the ramps disappear, forcing him to stop. Beware, though, 'cause he'll be pretty mad! Even if you manage to beat his Poison-type team, he won't give you the Hazard Badge or the TM "Acid Rain" unless you talk to him again. Once you beat him, they'll let you keep the bike you rented to use in the Gym.

His Pokemon are Turkash and Burronkey (Not revealed yet). Once again, Grass-types will not do so great here. If you somehow have a Pokemon that can learn Ground-type attacks, though, his team won't stand much of a chance.

Before battle: "Hey, you! You little runt! You were the one who messed with my ramps, weren't ya!? You made me wipe out! What did ya do that for!? Grrr! I'm so angry... Now you're in for it!"

During battle: "What's your problem, kid?" "Hey! This one's my pride and joy!" "What's going on!? You should be beaten by now..."

Defeated: "W-what!? What the heck just happened!?" "Hmph! I don't believe this. First ya make me crash my bike, then ya wipe the floor with me in a battle! ...Hmph... Now that I think about it, that sounds kinda like what I did to other guys back in the good old days... Hmph! Never mind! Get out of here, runt!"

Nearby Biker: "Wow. So you really beat the boss, I mean, Paulson? I gotta say, that's pretty impressive. Hey, hold the phone. Did he not give you a badge? Eh, he probably just forgot. Go talk to him again. Don't be afraid!"

Defeated, cont.: "I thought I told ya to get out... Huh? Whuzzat? A badge? Why would I- Oh, right. I guess that technically was a Gym battle, wasn't it? Oh, fine then! Here! Take the Hazard Badge!" "Take this with you, while you're at it. It's taking up space here. That Technical Machine there contains the move 'Acid Rain'. Use it, and all non-Poison-type Pokemon will have their Defense lowered for a while! Don't just use it all the time, though! If the enemy's Pokemon are Poison-type or your Pokemon aren't, well, you're just wasting time."

After battle: "Hmph. You've got guts, kid, I'll give you that. Hey, my brother's a Gym Leader too. Think ya might beat him someday? Ha! Don't make me laugh!"

After you beat Charlie: "Oh, it's you again. What are you doing back here, kid? What's that? You say you beat my brother!? I don't believe it! But...wait! That's the Explosive Badge you got there! How did you... Oh, I get it. Okay, kid! I admit it, I was wrong about you. You're not just some punk; you're a serious Trainer. Once you beat the League, come back to Hazepool City! I've got the urge to battle with you again. Let me tell you something, though; I've changed since you beat me. I've been training my Pokemon like crazy! Well, I look forward to our next meeting! Later, kid!"
