Description I hear you’re now a two-bit trick
Inside a sad hotel
Where aching soldiers come and pay
To hold your empty shell

Where lipstick smears and studied sighs,
Help forge the perfect crime:
The murder of your secret self
before the checkout time.

I hear each night you fight the clock
That wilts your vacant mask,
And search through colored bottles
For some traces of the past.

But all that’s left inside them is
The aftertaste of shame
There’s no one else to call your bluff
Inside a one-man game.

I guess that’s how the story goes:
You swindle and you cheat
You win a few, but in the end
It is yourself you beat.

*I shot this months and months ago to illustrate my poem and never finished editing it! It was inspired by Gregory Crewdson with a little Kubrick thrown in there. Thanks to Chris for the help and use of the space at his parent's house (although I'm told they were slightly annoyed when they discovered what we had done to their bedroom lol). Truly must be appreciated LARGE *

I dig the night stand and the bottle. I think the furniture adds to this photo. Nice work. (Flickr link is not working)
