If someone had come up to me and told me that Episode 7 of the new season of What If...? would be a variant of Hela getting Thor's redemption quest from the first movie and actually becoming a good guy, I would have laughed them right out of the room. And yet, after watching Hela's character development from bloodthirsty warrior to someone who knows when to show mercy when she begins her training in Ta Lo and has an answer for what she wants after gaining dominion over all nine realms after having a flashback to Puppy!Fenris being taken away from her and chained up when she was a child: "Freedom. Freedom from control," it felt so believable, especially with the little ship tease between her and Wenwu (hope she becomes Shang-Chi and Xialing's mother in this universe, because those two would be so powerful!)
