Lyla and Mila hike through a spooky forest.I really love the 'night time' palettes they used to use in 90s anime, where all the colours get changed up but somehow it still looks natural.

This probably took about two hours I think. They don't take too long. I was watching Slayers and noticed all the weird colours they use in night scenes and wanted to try it. I'm gonna do another palette like this soon I think.
I don't think I'll go back to pencil anytime soon. I like colouring now!

Yeah, all the reds seem to become greens, and skin tones go blue, it's really weird, easy to change up in Photoshop but in those days they would have painted it by hand I guess.

I wouldn't have thought they were strange colors at all if you wouldn't have said anything. And i still don't really. It looks perfect.
Someone told me digital art is the future. And i said yeah for mass production. Idk that just makes me sad. I didn't like it all that much before and now that i realize everyone and their mom use bases.. it's just sad that's considered art. I barely consider what i do art. That's just editing

Anime has really suffered since hand painted cels stopped IMO. And I don't consider bases really art either, you are learning nothing so what is the point. Unfortunately everyone wants to be a manga artist these days without the years of anatomy studies that go with it and so just mass produce base crap. And then every manga artist gets tarred with the same brush of ’oh that's not real art ’ because of all the crap out there. I worked so hard for years so that really does piss me off if someone is like, oh you're just a manga artist.
