This was done last year. Funny thing was, I thought soooo much about the engineering of it.

The array of black poles sticking out from the wings would actually shoot liquid Titanium. When shot in space, the sheer cold would flash freeze the metal and send a barrage of metal shards at the enemy fighter . I also realized that the wings were angled a little low, but it's meant to fly in space, so it doesn't really matter.
