Description Another b&w conversion of one of my photos [link] . This time I tried to highlight the vista by keeping the window colored.

Danke dir!

Nice concept; keeping the window view colored makes quite an impact. It's both striking and ironic next to the crumbling gray walls. My only suggestion would be to shrink the frame a bit, so that the colored window is more central to the viewer. Right now there's a lot of empty space above and to the left, which I think could be cropped just a little bit. That might also make the graffiti around the window stand out more.

This would make a great wallpaper.

Interesting contrast of colours, and great view of a colouful world.

I have to disagree with bhoy about your composition. I think what you have done is excellent. A straight approach may not work for this piece, as we usually take things around us for granted, or that we are not aware the beauty of the things around us!

Thanks for your encouraging comment. To counterbalance this taking-for-granted I often take my camera with me, because just having it with me makes me more aware of my surroundings.

there is soo much I like in this shot, but also a few things I aint too keen on (my personal opinion)

I love the colour through the window, the deep blue sea and sky the focal point building and the grass, the way it has been composed sort of draws your eyes out to the sea, fantastic.
Whan I am not so keen on is the angle of your composition, looking into the corner, which is slightly distracting, if the shot was taken more straight on to the window maybe?.. apart from that good work well done.

Hey bhoy, thanks for your kind comment! I think we often have to bend down a bit (in a figuratively as well as a literal sense) to see the beauty around us, and with this shot I somehow tried to express this feeling. But thanks for your suggestion. Maybe I'll try a different crop to see how it looks like.

i share your philosophy completely though I am looking up so much hidden around us that we take for granted.
And for the crop/composition it was only my opinion and the photo is great as it is
keep up the good work

Hey you are fast! You are right - and photography helps us being more sensitive to what is otherwise taken for granted. And don't worry, I appreciate your constructive comment. Thanks again!

I looked at the link to the other photo, and can definitely say I like this one more.
Though a viewer's eyes might first land on the deep shadow (black in places) on the wall, the color view beyond it then becomes more delightful. Not only because of the literal light on it, but also because of the depth of focus and the dark plant in front, lending credence to shade from the wall and adding to the sight farther ou,t to the ultimate blue background in the vista. I even like the rocks showing on the black and white wall, as well as the letters gouged into it. This is a for me.

Wow.. I love this shot. I usually am highly against photo manipulation but in this picture it looks amazing!
But if I was you, I'd take a bit off of the top because you can see a bit of sky up there, and I find it odd to see blue sky in the window and gray sky on the top. :3 Then again, that is just my five cents.
But other than that, I absolutely ADORE the idea and the way you presented it! ^w^

Hey, you're fast!

Btw, I also like tea, Zelda and FF (I just browsed your profile). I can remember playing the SNES version of Zelda back in the good old days Do you by any chance know "Secret of Mana"? That's another one of my favorite SNES games...

Eiliakins In reply to leapintotheboundless [2011-04-13 14:59:09 +0000 UTC]

Cool. ^^
Heh, the SNES-Zelda. I only have the GBA-version of it. And I never finished it because I'm so good at misplacing things. x'D I gotta try to find it someday.
( I believe you mean A Link to the Past? I don't think there are any others for SNES. )
Secret of Mana? Nope, I've heard the name but never played. (We don't have a SNES. It's the only Nintendo console, aside from Game&Watch, that I don't have. :'3 )

leapintotheboundless In reply to Eiliakins [2011-04-13 15:11:15 +0000 UTC]

Yep, A Link to the Past is right. It's awesome, at least it was... My, I think I'm getting old I liked the idea about the mirror/shadow world and that you could reach some areas only by traveling through both worlds.

You definitely should try Secret of Mana! Try a SNES emulator for your comp, I like snes9x for example (it's available for Win as well as OS X). You won't have any difficulty finding the rom somewhere on the net.

Let me know if you decide to give it a try!

And the nusic in ALttP.. Ah, beautiful. :3 Just like in all the other Zelda-games.

Maybe I'll try to find it on my Wii's Virtual Console. I'm terrible with computer games. Why? I mentioned being good at misplacing things? I'm also good at forgetting. xD I just can't remember what button does what. :'3 (I did once try playing Mother on an emulator. It just doesn't work 'cause I never remembered what button does what. Same goes for World of Warcraft and even a game as simple as The Sims. 8'D )

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine once suggested that game too, I think?

leapintotheboundless In reply to Eiliakins [2011-04-13 15:45:03 +0000 UTC]

Haha, it's not that complicated, believe me! You just have to remember six keys, the ones you assign the A, B, X, Y, L and R button-functions to. That's all. But you HAVE TO try the game! It was developed by SquareEnix, so it's almost certain you'll like it.

As a teaser have a look at this YouTube video: [link] (a mix of the awesome background music).
