First of all, you did a FANTASTIC job with this. The lighting and low saturation set the tons for this perfectly.
I'm doing a sorta big project right now, and I'm trying to combine all the tower-based themes (Tin Tower, Pokemon Tower, Sky Tower, etc.) into one big remix medley. I need some great artwork for a video of it, and I was hoping to find something like this to use. I figure it's the Star Wars division... for example, in the original Han shoots Greedo. In the "updated" one Greedo shoots first (and later at the same time)... and most fans accept the original version as canon because it's the one that belonged to the movie that actually created Star Wars what it is.
I'd say the same about Pokemon. Call it Tin Tower - it's the original name... revisions are nice (or annoying), but they're just revisions and didn't impact the audience as much as the original did - even for just a subtle name-change.
wonderfully realized picture! Very moody! I never liked making pokemon "more realistic" but the way you did Bellsprout is an exception!
