Wow good work! Nice way of filling in the guard itself. Are you going to two tone your work?

I have not decided yet. I have several different colors to choose from and I am having a hard time picking...

I understand! I do most of my leather work under commission so the colours are chosen for me in that regards. My own daughter threw me for a loop by choosing green and black for her wallet! This is the kid who has a purple room and accent her whole wardrobe in purple!! The wallet did turn out nice though.

I like the tooling. Did you construct the Celtic knot yourself or did you use a pattern?
I agree with RuehlLeatherWorks about the straps. You might want to put them under the main layer so they don't catch.

I do all of my own designs. I have a big graph paper composition book that I do my designs in. When I have one I want to do on leather, I copy it with tracing paper or parchment paper. I have another folder in my gallery that has some of my designs in it.

Thank you! I am meeting with the woman that I'm making the other one for tomorrow. We have to talk about what she wants on it. Overall I was pleased with the amount of time it took to complete. I am not sure how I want to dye it though... I am open to suggestions.

Personally, I prefer Tandys water stains. I've used their Ecoflo dyes, but they don't penetrate very much and several other brands are too smelly to use indoors. The water stains have given me better results, you do have to rub several layers in and wait until it dries completely to see the final color. I have noticed that different leathers will absorb the stain differently as well.

I know the flared contact points around the rivets look nice, but they will be more likely to catch the bow string. Other than that, all I can say is "WOW"! Well done!

I was unsure of how the connection between the straps and the body should be. This is the first one I have ever made. The fit on my arm makes it look like the joints won't get in the way, however anyone with a larger arm than me would run into some trouble. I had considered giving this one to my father, because he actually bow hunts. He can be my genie pig...

Ha! I'd be rather happy to get something that nice as a random gift!. I do like the shape you used for the guard itself. I looks like it would be comfortable without pulling at the strap points.

It is a little uncomfortable right now, but that may just be that it is made for someone that has a longer forearm than me. It doesn't seem to pinch any where, even when I was twisting my arm around trying to take those pictures. The buckles I chose were small because I didn't want them to look too big when being worn. I feel really good about it.
