Title: Jack the Ripper, confessions of a lady killer.okay, this picture was drawn for one reason, the title, which I bet isn't even all that original. I am sure someone else has called their thing that.
if you know of any, FIND THEM! I want to see.
Otherwise....errrr....
I drew this in 1h...which was the point of this...to draw something in an hour.

Wow, I really like this one. Jack the Ripper is so cool, I've watched 'From Hell'. Its freaking great, all about the bastard.
I even caught this 20/20 special. Really weird, experts believe Jack was a small time artist who did painting of murdered bodies. Crazy huh?
But on with the picture crit. Its good, I like the touch back of renaissance. Its my favorite period you know. The collar and shoulders are large, which I like. It tends to bring an alter poise to him, you know, I have abig ego but later on I'll be invisible to all. The background is great but I must say, I really don't have a very good idea of what he's potentcially leaning on. Is it a portside by the dock? Is it a large fence? Perhaps a brick ledge in a tunnel? Not really too sure but that light in the background, as beautiful as it is, should have lit up some features further back. You don't have to do exact features beacuse the light is soft afterall. But the merging of a dark background versus a dark forground is although easy to merge, hard to compose.
Some exteremly good points though, I love his lanky body. I never expected Jack to be someone with a whole lot of time to work out and such so his weak frame is a really good camouflage from apparent 'victims'. *laughs* I'm such a geek. The gloves are really great. They make a wonderful pinacle for the piece, easy to zoom in on them because they're so much mroe lighter then the rest of him. ^_^

Cool! I caught the same special! Tho I find him WAY too creepy to read up upon on a regular basis.
*falls on floor laughing* the post he is leaning on...okay, here goes the converstation:
"Crap! Koto, I have like 3 minutes to finish this piece and he is leaning on absolutely nothing!"
"Draw a post or something, what was he supposed to be leaning on?"
"A wall...or something, okay, I am drawing a post, wait...it is ugly...and shiny, need to darken"
"The watch at my desk says you are already late"
"Okay, good enough."
Yup, so that is why the post is utter crap. As for the dark background & darker foreground stuff. I should have done way more outlining of him, and I was thinking of adding another visible light source, but I ran out of time. lol. it tickles my pickle that this pic got so many comments, cause, yah, it was kinda an experiment in laziness.

I forgot to draw his bag too, so his right hand is kinda holding nothing.
But thank you so much for the comments on this, I think I am going to go back and add some more highlighting to him. Proally will sell him at Animethon.

*grins* I figure he would have been the last person to want to see in a dark alley...cause, you know, he killed people and all that. SO I channeled that...while listening to some uber happy pop song ;.;
