On an alien world in a far off sector of the galaxy, two space marines wearing pressure suits and breathers, on patrol in their armoured personnel carrier, come under attack by a plasma energy life form, after their vehicle loses power, the tough hard nosed sergeant tries to protect his young flesh faced female subordinate from the imminent blast that will turn anything it touches into an explosive burst of life energy, being sucked in to the alien, leaving just a charred skeletal corpse in its wake
