**hugs** I suffered that myself, my mother constantly trying to make me wear dresses and crap to school, church, etc growing up. She finally gave up once I was in Jr High, though she insisted I had to wear nice pants and a blouse for first day of school and picture day... something about "making a good first impression" or some such when damnit, I don't like lying to people, just let me be myself! Meh. She finally got to the point where as long as my jeans and t-shirts didn't have holes in them it was fine.

I think it's un-funny how if you try to break free from one gender role and begin to succeed socially, people around you immediately try to pigeonhole you into the alternative gender role.
It's like... alright... so, I can break free from this gender crap as long as I immediately get caught again. Something seems wrong with this.

Favoriting because I whole heartedly believe this and I can't stand all the people on YouTube pushing the housewife thing on women and then turn around and say that's not what they meant. Yes it is and you know it YouTubers. I'm so sick of hearing "statistically speaking you will be happier as a housewife" and "housewives are depressed? Bullshit!" we all make our own decisions and it's up to the individual to decide your life. And yes men can do women's work and maintain masculinity but they won't promote that either. It's always, men should be men and women women. Why are you defining what "feminine" means? I am feminine and I can't have children so I'm going to work I'm sorry

Completely agreed. You have every right to choose your path and your life. The rest of the world can go get stuffed if they don't like it.

Genders stereotypes are ''Boys that wear blue are faggots'' etc?

Something like that. For some stupid reason, if guys wear pastel colors or pink or anything floral or lacy (or otherwise considered girly) they get harassed and called faggots. Frankly, I don't care what color or kinds of clothing people want to wear, as long as it fits them (not so big it's falling off or clearly way too small for them), they like it, and are comfortable, what does it matter to anyone else?

I hate people that say ''Blue is for guys and pink for girls'' Or ''A boy that wears pink is a gay faggot'' These people deserve to die. Or at least learn a lesson. I don't care about the color. I actually thing men that wear pink and pastel color are way more attractive than boys wearing ''Boy Colors''

And some men wear those colors very well and look really sharp in them. Color is merely a palate of design elements to use as a tool to express yourself and show off your personality and good looks. Who cares what color someone wears. If they look good in it, then YAY!

I like this stamp, because you are speaking the truth. If a girl is as boyish as one can be, that's who they are and that can't be helped or changed. Same is true for the girly boys. It's a shame that most people say that everyone should follow the same derogatory, cookie-cutter, meaningless stereotypes and gender roles for both genders, no matter what. No matter how the people put it, no matter what phrase they use to describe it, they all basically mean "You should be like your own gender."

It's sad how people insist on pigeon-holing others like that. Why can't people simply accept others as they are and stop trying to change them into someone they're not?

I feel sorry for guys who feel the pressure to feel "manly". It's completely unnecessary.

Totally agreed. I mean seriously! Why must people be pigeonholed into stupid stereotypes forced on them by some anonymous, faceless society that could care less about who someone really is? All they care about is "Oh, that's a guy so he has to be like this and that's a girl so she has to be like this." Yeah, how dare anyone step outside of those tiny little conformity boxes... >.<

It's okay to not fit into a traditional gender role. Guys' lives don't have to revolve around sports, guns, beer, and sex. I don't like any of those things. Girls' lives don't have to revolve around fashion, shopping, romance, and gossip. And even guys who do play sports or work in "masculine" jobs are allowed to be sensitive, and girls who like fashion and shopping can still be outspoken and strong. Normal people are NEVER completely masculine or completely feminine.
And being a housewife isn't a bad thing as long as the woman is allowed to voice her own opinions. Women like Margie Phelps (wife of Westboro Baptist Church leader Fred) and Michelle Duggar are not normal housewives - housewives aren't supposed to be little mice who are completely controlled by their husbands.

Agreed! There are men who love to cook, to sew clothing and garb, to make quilts, even a football player who loves to knit! There is nothing wrong with any of that and I dare any macho asshole who thinks these are wrong to try and do what these guys do. There are women who work on cars, who build things out of wood or metal, and any man who tells them they can not often gets a verbal bitch slap, if not a literal one. And they would deserve it too.

Yeah and I looked up why women who work are "depressed" it's because women's respond to stimuli different not because they're actually depressed lol

**nodnods** The only "gender roles" I see that should remain are woman as nurturer and caregiver, since men are not typically wired that way (men have to learn that role, women do it automatically), but the protector should be both. Mother animals are more dangerous when their babies are around, and the same is true in humans.

I kind of agree with that. There are some men who are naturally caring and some women, it takes awhile so I think it can go both ways though it depends on the person I guess. I've seen some women who just take a long time to care for a child or any other person if that makes any sense? XD

Indeed. We don't live in the 1800's anymore where a man has to do 'manly' things or a woman has to do 'womanly' things after all.

Some of the things we associate with women now, like art and literature, were actually associated with men during the 1800s and before.
