Description ......

"What secrets could lay behind a night city?"

This is my OC Silius Pius Mare The city will be where my OCs lived, for now

It's my first time painting a city and it is really really challenging, but I really do have a lot of fun
It might be boring with with just rectangular buildings but I promise I will improve more and get better

By the way, can anyone tell me what is the meaning of matte painting? And critiques are very appreciated. Thank you very much ;7;

Silius looks really good standin' there in the foreground. The foreshortening on his right arm looks a little strange to me, but then again that could just be because the railing looks a little high. You probably could have gone darker on his shading, too, since this is a night scene where the only light sources seem to be the moon & the windows in the city below.

Speaking of the city, the buildings are very nicely done. My only critique of them is that a light in every window isn't necessary. Asymmetrical lighting would have made more interesting shapes in the background, plus been a little more realistic. I mean, is everyone in those building really all awake right now using every single light? That's a small thing, though. The misty blue lights do a good job adding visual interest to the background as well. One thing about them, too, though: use the polygonal lasso tool and use it to give the bottom of each pillar a sharp base. This will make it look more like the lights are emerging from the city and less like they were painted on top.

Overall a really well done piece.
