Description ...I would love to rest beside these peaceful waters

Originally, this piece was to have a dragon in front of the water, but he just didn't seem to fit there (he will be appearing later perched on the side of a cliff). I had spent a lot of time working on the scene and didn't just want to give it up. When I saw a lovely architectural piece on 's page, I knew what I had to do. The unicorn was actually a suggestion by my husband, and is the first one I have ever done digitally and on dA. I hope you like it

Oh! I've ridden one like that! I was on a trail ride and he rolled me in TWO mud puddles...then laid down in one and refused to get up! It was quite hilarious to my friends

I can laugh now, but at the time I was quite disgusted I eventually convinced the devil that he would get up and rode back to the stables...all covered in mud and wet...only to be greeted by hoots of laughter from the stable owners...

Just wow, how did u do this it's magnificent. Damn this is a great work of art. The unicorn looks perfect and the overall composition looks so stunning and beautifull. To me this is absolutly your greatest work, can't wait to see the next one

I spent a lot of time painting just the background before I ever got to the unicorn. The piece is really a mixture of digital paint and the use of overlaying photos and textures to achieve what I was going for. I think I am getting better at the digital paint...practice makes perfect as they say The temple is total photo with a filter added to make it look like the rest of the scene and lighting effects. The horse I painted from a reference stock, and used lighting effects to try and make him 'stand out' from the rest of the scene.
My next work will be a dragon perched on some ruins on the side of a mountain overlooking valley far below.....that's the plan, anyway!

This is absolutely stunning - soo dreamy it has that magic 'lost civilization' look to it. I really like the difference between the unicorn and the background.

Awww! Thanks, Dear!! That was just the look I was going for!
I was really a little worried the unicorn wouldn't 'stand out' because the background has so much texture...I used an extra lighting effect on him in Photoshop to try and bring him out more
