Would you mind if I like this and use it for a character of mine?~ I would give full credit for the lineart to you, of course.
Thanks in advance <3

with the unicorn you have presented (which is beautiful) but..... dosen't quite have the particular grace of the arching neck of a horse or the noble and majestic quality. deer also prove a bit to small and frail, add a horses to the mix and you have a beast that is gentle but with the frightening strength and speed.
so maybe what im saying is horse/deer? BUT not just any horse i say try andalusian or a friesian body type. lol sorry just my thoughts i feel strongly on the matter funny enough

You did a great job capturing the unicorns movements. The anatomy looks great too. Definitely looks like a real unicorn.

You've done a very good job in your rendition of the unicorn. One of the best I have seen. What was your inspiration?

LeeDassin In reply to Torchd10 [2009-02-19 05:07:33 +0000 UTC]
Thanks so much.
Inspiration... uh, I like researching mythology and when I realised that a unicorn was not a horned horse I was determined to defeat the stereotype. I guess my inspiration came from wanting to show the world what a true unicorn is...
But drawing wise... I base my real-life unicorns on Reindeer, as they have the graceful legs of a deer but a more sturdy, heavy body like a horse (as described in the myths).

I want the Unicorn in the live action movie (if there ever is one) to look like this!

Thanks!
Apparantly they were going to make a real life movie, they had storyboards, pictures and costumes designed [link] But when they announced that the Unicorn was going to be a trained horse with CGI effects there was an outcry from fans because of the disregard for Beagles description "Not-anything-like-a-horned-horse" being broken.
Because of this the entire project was put on hold, they don't know what's happening now.
I think they should train a Doe, that would be more accurate than a horse.

Yeah, I know the entire fiasco. I hope someday that I could make a fan film version.

Lol, glad to meet somebody who still remembers that unicorns aren't horned horses.
...There is only one creature among all who can be equal to the unicorn in all it's glory, beauty and strength. The perfect predator. Yamma. One and the only who can eat flesh of unicorns... . (C)Me.

Yeah, I get really annoyed with the horned horses thing, especially when all the old tapestried clearly depict a unicorn with cloven hooves and a long tuffed tail...
Pardon my ignorance... but what is a Yamma? I have not herd them before. Are they a real mythical creature or one you have created?

Charanty In reply to LeeDassin [2008-12-13 08:38:11 +0000 UTC]
Well, they can be accepted but only as lower breed, "untrue unicorns".
No, they even haven't got any mystical creature base behind them. So yammas are fully mine creations.
Well, you know, the most annoying thing about unicorns is that there is no predator who can hunt them. I mean there is nobody equal in power and etc to unicorns.
Female yamma can be seen here:

Male yamma: [link]
