Background: Mitsuko is the descendent of the very first person with a quirk— because of this, her family is a “pretty big deal”, practically celebrities. They are, as such, very strict and what some might consider as snooty, since the Ri-Shen family has only married into families with other “light-based” quirks. Mitsuko originally had no intention to become a hero— however, when her older brother dropped out of UA for reasons unknown to her, the duty was appointed to her. This has made her very bitter towards her brother, but as time goes on, she has discovered a real passion for protecting others and using her abilities for the good of others.

For a long time, Mitsuko found it difficult to relate to her fellow classmates, finding that she was “emotionally stunted”. There were so many things that the other kids in her school said and did that she could not understand or relate to, because of her strict upbringing. To be perfectly honest, she had not had many friends over the years and had a hard time opening herself up to others emotionally. However, thanks to her new friends, she’s learning how to be more open and honest about how she feels and what she really wants in life, rather than just settling.

Description: Mitsuko is a beautiful young woman with dark hair and bright green eyes. The “casual” clothes that Mitsuko wears could be best described as more along “business casual”, since her mother (who is very controlling) has a lot of say in what she wears. Blouses, sweaters, skirts, and dress pants make up a lot of what she wears, but Mitsuko has recently convinced her mother to allow her to wear jeans and sneakers by telling her that it makes her look more relatable in the public eye.

She has a hard time talking about her feelings, so she can sometimes bottle them. Often, she will become reclusive, refusing to talk to just about anyone until finally it all comes out at once. Thanks to her friends, though, she’s beginning to be more open and honest about how she feels and what she really wants in life, rather than just settling.

Quirk: Solar Manipulation

Description: Mitsuko’s quirk allows her to soak up the energy of the sun and emit it in the form of prismatic light all around her, like an Aurora. This light can be separated from her body, but it takes more energy and concentration.

+ Advantages:
- It’s very warm and bright, causing discomfort and temporary blindness in her enemies.
- Can be separated from her body to make a sort of shield, or even weapons for her to fight with.
- Can hover a couple of feet off of the ground.
- Flashy, looks good for the cameras.

- Disadvantages:
- She has a limited amount of energy. When it’s used up, she is effectively quirkless— if she pushes it too far, it could even kill her.
- Easy to see during night-time missions.
- Hot to the touch, she has to be careful when touching others while her quirk is active. At full power, she feels like metal in the hot sun.

1. Mitsuko only carries one type of equipment on her; three Solar Flares, all in the shape of a sun design. When the bottom spike (it looks like a sun-ray) is pulled, the flare will shoot up into the air and stay there for some time, lighting up the battlefield. Because it is solar powered, she can soak up the light it emits, which gives her more power during a fight.

Trivia

Mitsuko can’t tan, like at all. Her skin soaks up the sun and immediately converts it into energy, so it never tans or burns her.
Because of her skin soaking up the sun and converting it to energy, her skin will age very slowly. She will still look pretty youthful at, say, 50.
Her favorite color is green.
Her favorite food so far is cheap Chinese takeout, especially teriyaki chicken. Surprisingly. Her mother would FREAK if she heard that.
Mitsuko wears her hair up in a pony tail when she’s feeling confident and sociable. So, she usually wears it up when she’s with friends and especially with Touma.
