Description Just something I worked on and completed around May 2021.

I am a huge fan of Bakugan, and got back into collecting the originals recently, so I felt it only appropriate to draw some fan art ^w^
Neo Dragonoid is by far one my favorites, both the toy and the character. The design has always fascinated me and I've wanted to try drawing a full body version of him.

I took the image outside to get a better picture of it. The lighting just wasn't working right on the ground, so I propped it up on a concrete wall to fix this problem. (I also put my little bakugan of the character next to the drawing.)

The drawing was first done in pencil using whatever full body reference images I could find. (A ton of them were super blurry, so I had to do a bit of guesswork in some places). It's not an exact duplicate of Neo Dragonoid's character sheet; I wanted to stylize it slightly. (Especially on the tail as the show really doesn't like to show much of it. :T)

Then I took some technical pens and inked it, then moved on to coloring. I chose to try coloring with markers this time, as I wanted to colors to be vibrant while also not appearing 'grainy' like my work tends to be when I use colored pencils.

Working with markers was a learning experience, and I had to be super careful about where I colored, as trying to adjust it afterwards was a nightmare. I did a lot of color blending tests on a separate sheet beforehand. I also layered marker colors over each other to give a shading effect, but also to darken some of the reds and oranges to match the character color palette.

For the gold and white highlights, I used gel pens. I had a gold sparkly gel pen that looked nice on some of the shaded areas, and the white helped add highlights to the piece.
The photo I took with my iPhone XR, and then I sharped the image a bit in Adobe Lightroom mobile.
