Entry for TFW's "Design a Transformer with Josh Nizzi" Contest.For those of you who don't know, Josh Nizzi designed some of the robots for RotF (Longhaul, Megatron, Jetfire, and Jetprime among others) and started out, like most of us, as a fan. His fan art concept for Longhaul was so awesome, it earned him a job on the movie (and, incidentally, was the first design approved for RotF, with no alterations).
This is a small sample of the movie Motormaster design I'll be submitting. I doubt I have anything remotely approaching a snowball's chance in hell of winning but, eh, you never know.

You know, it always thrills me when they hire new talent from the fandom. And these people are living the dream... having the torched passed on to them and inspiring the next generation of fans fifteen or twenty years down the road.
As for the design itself... forgive me for being too frank, but it looks a bit too much like Barricade. You might want to mix up the colors a little bit and change the facial structure.

Colorscheme is meant to mimic the original Motormaster so there's not too much I can do about that.
I'm hoping to do a closeup of the face (at least the linework if I can't finish the color) to highlight the differences/details of the design. It isn't actually any more like Barricade than any other Decepticon (Blackout, Bonecrusher, etc.) but might be hard to notice because of the rough "sketchy" nature of the design. Proportion-wise, he's a lot different than Barricade but this is only a small segment.

I am not sure what it transforms into, but this reminds me why I prefer the decepticons... They look so cool.

18 wheeler oil-tanker truck (black with a silver tanker). I might change the windows from purple to blue. They're G1 homage right now but that could change.

Don't change the windows, they look kick ass... As for the transformation, very cool. I didn't recognize simply because G1 was a long time ago and I don't have the greatest memory.

you know I have always heard that it is easier to play the bad guy. sounds like the same is true for artists. really great work.

Sort of the idea. He's bigger than Prime but most of the mass of the truck (the tanker is mostly hollow space anyway) winds up in his arms.

He's an oil tanker, black with a silver tank. The robot mode is a combination of the two like the original G1 Motormaster.

Ah. So, I assume he would stand higher than Optimus? After all, they did away with the trailer for Optimus because they didn't want to have to "explain away" where the trailer went when he transforms.

A bit taller, yeah. I tried to keep the size more or less in scale (I didn't want him to be 60 feet or anything like that) so I'd say between 32 - 36 feet compared to about 28 for Optimus.

Reminds me a bit of Sourge-- an evil truck counterpart for Optimus.
