This is the Specter Sword from Super Mario Bros. X: Alternate Kingdom. It was used by a powerful Hylian hero from a "faraway world". It is said the Specter Sword holds the power to put fiends into deep eternal slumber, also petrifying them, never to be reawakened again, except if the Specter Sword's second sweep is used to wake up the targeted monsters.

Spoiler Altert: The world of Subcon's inhabitants have knowledge of the Specter Sword, they are quite terrified of its powers. It is crafted with the Secret Seashells and Force Gems. The Specter Sword is currently through a certain popular villain's belly to keep him from waking up from his endless sleep.
