i have another suggestion on hwo this could work.
there are two dimensional kingdoms who are locked in a battle, the dimension and the dimension.
a group (our people) starting with have heard of a lagendary magic crystal item which could end the war by just a wish or something like that. they have a vauge idea of where it might be, and start the journey.
...idk, somethign that came to me.
