At the exhibit, right before it got going, trying to figure out exactly how to make it look like a missile is being shot from a jet into Godzilla... Β This was the project I used for a demonstration for the visitors to see how I do my thang.Related content

Hello! This is the Horse and Pony show brought to you by fellow Deviant Artist, UkuleleMoon ! I've come to give you a critique on this piece of artwork that you have submitted, might I add, much to the delight of everyone who has seemed to view the piece so far.
Your vision is an example to all. I think Tanaka Tomoyuki would be honored that you recreated his vision in such a revolutionary and tactile way. This picture doesn't really do the sculpture justice as I can't see the front of it! It looks like you went with the traditionally styled Godzilla mixed with a bit of your own vision for the monster. You've done a fantastic job in that category.
The sculpture is alive. It moves and flows and creates a world of its own as you walk around the piece. You can hear the iconic roar of Godzilla as he defiantly battles against whatever foe stands in his way. Even though he's the monster and sometimes the villain, he became more of a hero in later films. Godzilla touches our base instincts of survival at all costs. You've captured that well here.
I really like the cresting waves on the base of the sculpture. I can hear the ocean pounding away at the rocky coast as the monster above, born from not only nature but by the greed and audacity of mankind tumbles along the beaches. It's a piece that ensnares the senses and invites you to keep looking over and over again.
I think we can cover this sculpture with this quote from the 1950's movie.

i must say though, that though I did make the base from scratch the Godzilla is a model kit I built and am in process of painting that was sculpted by Hector Arce, who is in the credits of the new movie! Β Only 30 kits were produced, and Hector contacted me and asked if I wanted one! Β I have many more WIP photos of this in my galleries. Β Great critique, I appreciate it so much!

You ever thought of Blackwashing your stuff? Just a technique that brings out the details in the cracks.

I do that on some things, on this I am more likely to do the opposite like with crocodile skin showing lighter in the creases.

Well, the only reason it's done on that zilla you painted is just to get the spaces where the scales/samurai armor are too close together and would be difficult to get into with anything. Still, it'd be interesting to see what you'll do to it in the final stages. Pretty hyped, man!
