Description ....it is rainer *rain1man posting. i did this as noone seemed to be intrested for now to post for the group. i'm sure though you soon will.

i also would like to explain here what i like or dislike in the photographs i post and the material i used for it. it will of course always be a leica but film, lens and devloppers might change.

for this shot i used my beloved m7 with a 2/35cron on tri-x400 and devlopped it with kodak d-76 and finally scanned it with a nikon coolscanV.

i like the range of grays, thatfor i basicly shoot on tri-x and of course were impressed how the leica metered this scene, keeping details in the shades. i metered on the white wall and adter that didn't push the exposure as i was afraid of burning that whole scene, what the cam probebly wouldn't do though.

do i dislike the grain? i don't know. on one side this sort of photograph would look cool "clean" but on the other hand i think the grain adds some depth making this whole thing looking less flat as it would with slower film.

well, looking forward for you guys posting here

Almost an abstract theme here. I like the different lines and shades of color here. It makes it seem very modern. Nice shot.

I happen to like this shot allot because of the geometric shapes in it. I also love the grain, I use to push my tri-x film a stop or two to bring out even more grain. The only thing I wish this pic had was a pure white section to play off the black sillouite of the person in the doorway.

a classic museum shot here and the feeling is the right one: the grain works well, the depth given by the shades is adequate in describing the situation and making the viewer confortable with the scene but the globe seems out of the scene, it seems pasted inside and gives a strange feeling, of surreality, due to the absence of shadows coming from it, also the composition is slightly unbalanced with elements that drag toward the bottom and the right

you didn't print it? only scannerized from film?

i actually liked the globe in this scene. i think it's more a matter of taste than a technical error. i even would have liked it to stand out more to give more a three dimmensional look.
i just scanned it from the neg
thanks for your opinion

allright lets analize this:
on first sight it seems a very minimalistic and a bit surreal shot
the location seems to be an art museum or somebody has a very interesting way of decorating his livingroom = )
i loved the gray tones although i'm a high contrast fan
i usualy dislike grin too but in this case it suits very well with the soft gray tones
(by the way i use T-max 400 too, great choise)
the composition is a bit splitted up i didn't know where to pay my attention at first, the person standing there or the globe hanging down from the seeling
the only thing i can complain about is that there is no real white shiny surface which gave the photo a bit of an underexposed feeling
but a very enjoyable shot to look at

ps: i didn't know that there is a submitting thing going around
if we can submit leica work too i'd be happy to send a few photos.

have a nice day

your eye is very good and i agree with all of your points. i choosed to underexpose the whole scenery a bit but probebly would like to try another serie with metering on the white wall and than over expose about 1 il as it should have been done.
if you want to post just email chris or me with your pic and comment
