CLASSY, HIPSTER, and VINTAGE

The frigid temperature outside doesn’t mean you can’t look chic underneath that big winter coat. These students take classy, hipster, and vintage to the next level by adding different styles and pieces together, and combining dark colors to create elegance instead of dullness.

On the right, a girl wears her long black shirt as a dress, using her accessories to make her outfit stand out. She wears the shirt backwards because the front of it dips very low, partly exposing her shoulder blades. Sexy and creative, right? The striped black hosiery elongates her legs, and attracts attention in a subtle, but appealing way. She wears simple black booties tightened by thin shoestrings to match her shirt. To create the feel of elegance, she pairs a gold chainmail necklace with her outfit. Without the necklace, the “whoa” factor is taken away because the shiny gold contrasts so well against the dark colors. Note that the only colors in her outfit are black and gold. Although the separate pieces may seem minimal, it takes creativity to get “simple” to make a fashion statement. And she does just that.
