Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but Dead Space KICKS ASS all over the place.
This one turned out to be somewhat of a learning experience for me. I was looking to challenge myself to use Photoshop in a way I never really tried before, by focusing more on depth and contrast, painting using a more traditional manner, and experimenting. I think the thing I learned the most was patience - something I rarely exercise - and it definitely cost me a lot of that. I also tried to break myself of the nasty habit of using black and white to shade/tint, so I made a very conscious effort to avoid using either of those two colors anywhere in this. Of course, there are a lot of things that could be better, but in the end I learned a little and that's the good news.

The first time I played it and saw Mercer being transformed, I stood there like a dumbass saying, "Whoa, did he just turn into a -" and then I died. :/

Yeah, they did that to me several times. But DS had that way about it - mesmerizing you into the environment, then just when you're totally off guard they send the horsemen of the apocalypse after you. >.<

LOL a perfect way to put it... I think I was more scared of the environment than the necros themselves... though I kinda cheated Dead Space a bit because I watched a bunch of videos wayyy before I got it... because I was 15 and terrified of it...
I got it recently... I'm really trying not to spoil things... even though I watched like the first... chapter... well bits of it... until Isaac gets his suit... I was scared with some of the stuff.

Well done! That boss was a BITCH to kill. I agree, Dead Space is an awesome game, it's just a shame you get stuck at many places, for example when you first encounter a Pregnant. Nice work!

Yeah, it's a great game to play in the dark. I've played it through a few times now so it's not *quite* as scary as it was the first time, but I remember when I first got it I played it in my living room with all the lights off. And it was friggin' scary - it's been a very long time since I was ever frightened that much by a game. I kept jumping off the couch and throwing my controller at the screen.

Hi, thanks for asking!
Depending on the level of detail for the object, I can switch between many different colors - sometimes up to 10 layers of different colors. I don't use pressure or any other pen settings for color, I just change them manually using the Eyedropper tool to select the base color, then change it on the color mixer to a color I want to use. I also do a lot of experimentation, painting over previous layers of colors with others, sometimes.

DUDE!
This has to be one of the most amazing pieces of art I've ever seen! Dead Space is my second favorite game of all time, and I was just searching dA to see if I could use any pieces as a reference for some fanart I wanted to draw, and then I see this and I think holy crap, who the hell has the skills to make something this awesome?!
This, my dear sir, has to be one of the best things I've ever seen. I mean, right down to the sketch, it's awesome! The level of detail you put into this is just insane! And it's perfect! I honestly don't know what I could critize about this!
I just love everything about it--the approaching doom, the blood stains, the soft and rough glows...wow! It really does give this picture such a sense of desperation, especially Isaac! Everything is so spot-on and the coloring is just beautiful! The lighting definetly adds to Dead Space's legend of horror and doom. I love the folding on the clothes, the glow and detail of his suit, the crazy look of the Necromorph and all of its bumpy skin...wow!
I also love the reflections and the perspective, and the glow of the aimer of the plasma cutter really helps this thing stand out--you even went as far as putting the glow on the teeth!
This picture is just so amazing! I'm afraid I'll just sound like a broken record if I keep going on. Well done, very well done

I'm not in the habit of responding a whole lot, but since you went through the trouble to write such a detailed response, the least I can do is say thank you! 
For some strange reason I'm in love with Dead Space. I was just inspired out of nowhere so I had to make this, and other stuff too. I've even been writing a fanfic lately, and I haven't written anything in over 8 years! I don't know why. If there really is a Marker out there somewhere, then it's definitely got a hold on me.
