Omgsh, he is just adorable and quite simply beautiful (:
What would you say the temperament of an Akita is as a personal owner?
I own a Shiba Inu, but i highly doubt they would be exactly the same.
And I would love to own an Akita in the future, but reading information on the internet about these two breeds is completely different from owning one personally =/

I don't own an akita anymore (although I'm going to get one the next winter), but as far as I can tell... Japanese akitas are very independent, "one man dogs". They don't have the need to please their masters and thus they can be stubborn while training them, so you need to know how to deal with them or they'll consider themselves as your boss pretty quickly : D Also, they're not too fond of other people. I know an akita, owned by my friend, that loves other humans and is always ready to greet them, but usually akitas stick only with their masters.
Also, if you already have a dog and you're getting an akita, the akita should be of the opposite sex compared to your current dog. Females don't tend to like other females and males don't tend to like other males. Like always, there ARE exceptions, but exceptions are not things to be relied on.
And just to make it clear, don't expect the dog to come to see you at your school like Hachiko used to come see his master at the trainstation every day : DD Akitas are loyal, but they rarely, if ever, do that.

Okay, then that pretty much sounds like the Shiba Inu I own xD I fell in love with her lil stubborn personality, it can be a huge pain at times but I just love them. I've always wanted to own an Akita as well, I just never knew how closely similar the two acted.

I wanted to have a shiba first, but then I changed my mind at the last moment : D But I'm probably going to have a shiba too at some point. I love the breed quite a lot, so..

I love the fluffiness.
it does not get cold enough for my shiba to fluff up like that where we live.

I'd wanna cuddle her too.. She used to be our dog, but when we met her after a year of separation, she wasn't too eager to greet us.
