Wholesome art! I love the warm colors used here - their colors complement each other very nicely. Both of their hair looks lovely as always, Bakugo's looks so fluffy and Kirishima's looks like it would be the perfect length for a cute ponytail!

Thank you! I was wanting to do a warmer palette for this, so I'm glad it worked well.

That shading on Bakugo's hair is really well done! That's an interesting background, too...it looks like hair itself, lol.

Thank you! I really tend to struggle with spiky anime hairstyles, so I'm glad to know it came out well! Haha, I'll admit the background was me just being lazy/messing around with some new features in Procreate. I didn't put any thought into it, but now that you mention it, it does look like hair.

Haha, I feel like my struggle with spiky hair shows in some of my earlier drawings. This one was surprisingly not as difficult, but still a bit harder than other hairstyles for me. I think it came out looking a bit more natural and not as stiff than my past attempts.

Shading is incredibly important, and I feel like it's something I'm very inconsistent on. I actually find cel-shading quite difficult since I almost always struggle to get it to look right, for whatever reason. I'm trying to find a compromise with softer shading (which I find easier) and cell-shading. I think if I can find the right compromise, it would look interesting.

Ah yeah, the shading on your characters is softer than most anime. I think it makes it look unique, very easy to look at. Though it might be pretty cool to do what you're suggesting as well. It's so crazy how shading can radically alter one's entire perception of a character. I once tried that super dark shading, like the kind used in Majora's Mask's art--and it really changed up my style. Made it much gloomier.
I'm interested to see what else you might do with shading!

It is pretty incredible how much shading contributes to the atmosphere in art. Sometimes I'll mess around with the brightness or RGB levels in my art, and just making the shading darker can really add a gloomier mood.

Definitely agree there! I also love how shading and reflections convey depth and metallics, respectively. Understanding how light behaves is vital.

That does seem very fun! It looks like you're using craft foam, right? I've found it to be really useful for armor and metal bits as well. With the right paint job and sealant, it can give off a good illusion of all sorts of heavy duty materials while being nice and lightweight.

Yeah they are very light but look so cool. Its my first time working with foam but its fun I will paint them when its not raining

That's a good idea to wait until it's no longer raining. Paint can do weird things when it's trying to dry in humid weather.
