it's a lovedrive on wheels of fire

---"Lovedrive" by SCORPIONS

The finished work is here: Burning Bike Series I

Here is yet another WIP from my works. In the beginning i had problems while drawing, coz i had to draw with having the fact in mind that its going to be scanned. Drawing freely and drawing for scanning are two different things, but now i have adjusted my style and i have learnt some important lessons in the process.

This work of mine is dediacted to ~whoneedssleep , who has come out to be a wonderful friend in last month. He is quite a helping hand who never hesitates to help. Besides that, he is a great digital and traditional artist. A proper dedicateion i guess.

AFTERTOUGHT: Light is not good enough.

i was away for a week and just got back.... so dont think that i ignored your comment

well a friend of mine told me that he sprays the hair spray on the portrait and it doesnt smudge. but i i always put tracing papers between my works, they are quite effective. but the best thing to do is to scan the work and make it immortal... lol

Love the smooth texturing; hope the grainy paper didn't give you too much of a hard time.

Know that feeling. And I have to use certain sketchbooks for certain things. It's as close to organized as I'll ever get.

It's only because I have 20 different sketchbooks. *laughs* When you draw, you get a lot of art gear for Christmas(). It takes me forever to go through sketchbooks.

Between the rampant ranting and the strange jumps in conversation, right? Speaking of topics and tangents, I meant to ask you what pencils you were using. Guess I forgot...

LensNation In reply to k-hallowseve [2005-09-20 12:09:48 +0000 UTC]

i use simple HB pencils of different numbers ranging from 1H to 6H and 1B to 6B

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

k-hallowseve In reply to LensNation [2005-09-20 17:35:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh, okay. I think mine are from HB to 9B or somethin'. But I usually use my mech pencils (need to sharpen those other ones).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LensNation In reply to k-hallowseve [2005-09-21 08:04:55 +0000 UTC]

i never knew they were available to 9B... the darkest i have is 6B.... thats why i always have problem shading black areas... in india we dont have proper materials for drawing... otherwise i know i can do better

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

k-hallowseve In reply to LensNation [2005-09-21 16:52:47 +0000 UTC]

I never use it, because I'm left-handed and it smudges so bad from being so soft. But then, I haven't managed to draw anything more than doodles in forever... -_-

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LensNation In reply to k-hallowseve [2005-09-22 10:14:34 +0000 UTC]

well thats there the higher B goes, it gets more and more softer, as coz of of more greyphite.... but the darkness increases

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

k-hallowseve In reply to LensNation [2005-09-22 22:37:14 +0000 UTC]

Yep. And it smudges everywhere. My art teacher told me you could 'seal' a pencil drawing with hairspray. Do you know if that's true?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LensNation In reply to k-hallowseve [2005-09-23 04:13:18 +0000 UTC]

what? hairspray sealing? dont know anything about that...... what does it mean... why dont u ask ur teacher properly.... maybe it will help us

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

k-hallowseve In reply to LensNation [2005-09-23 20:25:20 +0000 UTC]

That was before I moved from AK... Supposedly spraying hairspray on it keeps it from smudging (when you're finished)... but I don't know if it works or not; maybe I can find that info somewhere.
