Fall.Well, I am not that satisfied with this version. The colors make it to a real autumn picture and that is what I wanted but the mood of the girl gets lost. The colors are too warm and happy, this is a hard contrast to the original mood of the black-and-white version .
I like the leaves though they were driving me crazy while drawing. It was a lot of work and took many time ... but you don't see it. Bad luck I would say....

hmmm perhaps if you had made the girl a bluer palate then it would have contrasted better with the autumn colors and given emphasis to your intended mood.
it is very well colored and i really like her expression. she seems to be resigned to her problems almost. As if she knows that they are there, wishes she didn't have to deal with them, but knows that there really isn't any other course of action. She seems to be poised to jump off the tree roots at any moment and begin to rake up all the leaves. It's very facinating to look at in detail.

I think that its still beautiful and melancholy. Though death surrounds her, it's a beautiful, vivid celebration of life, as though the leaves decided to let all of their creativity and beauty out at the end for all to see. The leave that covers her is a symbol of green, young life, that leaf will continue to grow, she will be able to leap over obstacles and use them to grow, as a tree does it's dead leaves, perhaps this isn't want you want to hear, since it's not exactly like your original description, but i think that it's a cycle
