January Assignment

The Snowclan patrol padded silently through the dark forest, undergrowth to one side and snow to the other. They were nearing the border and would be walking alongside it soon. Below them, there were small patches of snow from the light snowfall that had come down lately. It wasn't much, but there may still be more to come.
Saplingheart fidgited as Russetmoon, who had been walking ahead of the other three toms, stopped to taste the air. They all seemed so serious... which was boring. Why did he have to be the one stuck with them? The bobtailed tom frowned and pawed at the ground beneath him, trying to warm his toes. Instead, he found snow directly underneath where he was standing. He lowered his chest down to the ground and lifted up a paw to inspect the stuff. It was sticking to his pad, falling off of it in little clumps that rejoined the original mass. He grinned playfully and eyed Birchcloud, who had stopped beside him to watch him, a questioning look on his face.
"... Don't even think about it." The brown tom finally mewed. Saplingheart chuckled.
"Aw, c'mon, Birchcloud. Don't be such a downer!" He flicked some of the white stuff at the tom, who frowned deeply and stepped away slightly. Behind them, Sootstain was not amused.
"Really, Saplingheart? We're not kits here. We have a job." The bobtailed tom straightened up and glanced over his shoulder at him.
"... Man, you guys really are no fun." He made a face like he was pouting, which only made Sootstain's look of disapproval grow.
"And you have to mind of a kit." Saplingheart gave a 'tch' and turned around again. In front of the three of them, Russetmoon appeared to be the only one amused by any of this.
"Come on, guys. Let's get this done." With that, the four moved off again. And, in his mind, Saplingheart was determined to one day make Sootstain smile.

Anyway, I love how, in every picture that's been posted of these four so far, Saplingheart has his face in the snow xD It's very much like him haha
