I absolutely love this painting! It captures the very essence of Autumn and sure makes me think back to rushing through the leaves. What I really love is how soft and subtle the leaves and ground are painted, but you can still make them out. It's really nice you can stare at it and instantly recognize what the picture is of, but without having to have it sharply outlined. As for the colours, they are beautiful! I love how you blended them greatly and also made it lighter near the center, because it draws your attention to it. I hope to see more awesome work! I love the feeling of depth on this picture created by the trees slowing fading and angling towards the center of the image. The yellows and browns bring a light-hearted, feeling of warmth, and peace and makes makes you believe as if the figure is taking a slow walk down a worn trail in the soft lighting thinking light-heartedly and enjoying the warmth as it must be, of the atmosphere around them. It is interesting how it is ambiguous to what direction the figure is taking. They could be walking into the lighter part of the path in the far distance, or towards the cooler area right up front towards the viewer. I must say the style is very appealing, and texture is nicely done as well adding to it's beauty. Your signature is also well placed in the painting, so it is not intruding on the feeling of the painting, and in a way adds to it's elegance in how it is focused on with the dark spot of leaves on the ground. The only downsides is that plenty of paintings of a path-way through the woods have been made, and while this one has a different feeling/meaning behind than those it has been down many times over, but is a classic image used to present a feeling of tranquility. Overall the piece struck me immediately as professional and a piece of artwork that one can look at time and time again and still be immersed in the feeling it provokes. (:

I like the smaller splotches of colour on the tree trnks and the huge ones for leaves. Gets the impression across quite nicely.

This is a great autumn scene. The atmosphere and vagueness of the distant figure brings a real sense of depth and atmosphere and draws the eye in through the trees. Normally I would say that a centre focal point is better avoided, but in this case I think it works thanks to the staggering of the trees in the foreground and the balance of light in the left Mid/Distance with the darker Yellow/Orange in the Right Mid/Distance. My only criticism would be that the light source appears to be be far left, but the shadowing on the trees in the foreground suggests a light source over my right shoulder. That said, I don't think this detracts from a great piece of subtle atmospheric artwork.
