CW: adultery and the drama surrounding that

In this AU, the plan was that Uru would travel to the nearby desert in search of water during the drought mentioned in the books. She does this in an attempt to fall under good graces with Ahadi, the pride and her children. At this point in time, she would of had a strained relationship with Scar, and very little with Ahadi or Mufasa.

When Uru arrived in the desert, she located a small oasis. She stopped to drink, and was approached by a lone male. He was naned Maji, and claimed to be the king of a small pride, which inhabited a larger oasis some days travel from there. The two stayed at the small oasis for a few nights in a whirlwind romance. Maji asked Uru to come back with him, but Uru said she needed to tell her pride about the water, first. She did not tell him that she had a family.

Uru returned to the pridelands. She told Ahadi of her affair brazenly, but he didn't seem to care. She then found Mufasa and had a short, awkward goodbye. She had a more emotional goodbye with Scar, the younger lion becoming enraged. He never forgave her. Uru then left the pridelands, meeting Maji at the small oasis. She knew the Pridelands would be there soon to quench their thirst, so the new couple headed for Maji's kingdom.

When they arrived at Maji's pride, Uru was horrified to realize that this pride looked more like a more traditional lion pride than the type of kingdom Uru was used to. Where the pridelands kings and queens were limited to one mate at a time, the desert pride wasn't limited like that. Maji had three wives, all of who greeted her warmly. Maji had seemingly not told her about his family, either.

Polygamy wasn't uncommon, as every kingdom is different, but Uru would not stand for it. Enraged at the miscommunication, she stormed off and refused to look at Maji again. She unknowingly was taking his child with her.

Uru was too embarrassed to return to the pridelands at this point, and set out for life as a Rogue. The pregnancy was rough, especially since she was an ineffective hunter. She barely ate enough to keep her and her cub going, eventually returning to the pridelands at the end of it. Ahadi begrudgingly took her back in, but refused to inform mufasa and Scar of her return. Uru was too weak to do anything about it. She was cared for by the majuzi and a midwife, but the older lioness passed during the birthing process. She had a single daughter, which the midwife agreed to take in as her own cub.

Ahadi ended up telling his children a half thruth--their mother had returned, starved from being a Rogue and died from an illness she'd had. They were able to say their final goodbyes to her, though it would not feel like closure for any of them.

____

Please note, while Maji SHOULD have mentioned his pride dynamics, so should of Uru. Both are common pride dynamics in my headcanon. The two fell into it impulsively, and really barely knew eachother
