This is my 86th Sketch-Dump !
So, for Inktober, on
by day 8 is "Voodoo" and I drew a blank on what to do for voodoo, so here's a future-y satyr/elf guy with a goat mask, hanging out with smokey future-y guy who might be Baron Samedi
This happened at work, accompanied by the usual confusion. Reading Burroughs and all those guys in Weird Tales Β

I'm not very good at critiques, so sorry if what I say has already been on your mind! I adore the present detail and fitting empty space surrounding the voodoo characters. Not sure if this is worth mentioning, but there appears to be an implied "grounding" to this piece as set by the alignment of the stippling. Since this stippling in the right is incongruent in its tappering and the stippling from left to right isn't exactly correctly aligned, I feel a bit distracted as if the characters are tilting? Could just be me. I would align a ruler or visual aid to help adjust the stippling in a straighter manner. It could be nitpicking, but something feels right if the individual to the right was "smaller" into the background. Not sure if there's a purpose to this "conjoined" effect, but regardless I sort of like it. It's a matter of purpose, I guess. Other than that, you're a master at whatever you do! Keep up the phenomenal work.Β

Β Hehe a lot of what happened here, I think, is because I am spoiled by usually working digital and being able to make adjustments infinitely. I used to bring a ruler along with me, so that when I drew at work I could be precise like that, but I've fallen out of the habit Looking at it, there are things I'd change, but that's part of why these are "sketch-dumps", I guess? Some of these might get a second life as finished color pictures, who knows?Β Thank you very much for looking and taking the time to critique! I really appreciate it Β
