Description
I did this for Ian J. when he was moving and taking guest comics. He came back and started updating before this went up, and I'm sure everyone was more happy about that than seeing this silly thing. So I have put it here.
And... here it is.
EDIT: DUH the comic is RPG World, at [link]

Has anyone ever asked Ian J if they can take over and give the comic a revival?

I thought about it, a few years ago. Now I'm not so sure it makes sense to do, anymore.

I constantly make similar mistakes with potions and other healing items .I'll heal someone who is at full health or with no status condition while the dying or ill character must be thinking "Hey?What about me?".
Awesome detail and Wicked cool colouring .

i wish you cud still view RPG world comic, really cheered me up during some sad moments.
but Volume 1 & 2 even if availble dont cover all of what was released on the web (i ignore the fact the story just died rather than conclude) but still i wish someone cud send me like the Tiffs or Jpegs, for all the pages.

No, it hasn't happend to me. Because the only RPG I play is Chrono Trigger, and in CT it's impossible to resurect living party members (you can't select them).

That is merely more proof that Square-Enix has the technology but doesn't use it so that they can watch us suffer!

you KNOW the programers know how to fix it with a couple of lines of code. They like seeing us suffer...

Oh...that...that hit home. I've SO been there.
It was one of the greatest things about FFX: the pheonix down DEFAULTS to the KO'd person.
Actually it was great as soon as I figured out I didn't have to move it over to them (which at first resulted in more errors!).
(PS: the art is pretty great too)

Lol, I hate it when I do that! Or when you try to cure someone before they die, but they die before you cast the spell...and then you cast the cure spell on their dead body, fruitlessly. This is a great guestcomic. Probably one of the best ones I've ever seen for RPG World! I love that comic!

I love it too! (rpg world, that is) thank you very much!
I totally know what you mean about the cure spell. I wish they'd fix that "heal dead people deal." It would just take a bit of coding! Give me back my turn! lol

it's... not... FAIR!!! with all the nice coloring and what not how do you do THAT because i've been expirementing with photoshop and i can't figure it OUT!! I can only do pencil sketches and what not nicely. HELP ME! please....

Lepas In reply to Just-Jake [2004-07-24 05:59:59 +0000 UTC]
aw! sure I'd love to help how I can. I remember when I first started I wish someone would have explained stuff to me. First thing I can say is look up tutorials on dev art or on google, cause those are great for learning how things work. Another thing is... buy a manual. I have a studio techniques book for photoshop 7 and I still refer to it all the time.
and then, the only thing I can say that I wish I would have known in the beginning is that you can darken pencil drawings using the "levels" "hue, saturation, lightness" "gamma correction" and "Histogram" boxes. Also, get yourself a nice inking pen (for starters staedtler pigment liner in .01 and .03 are nice) and use that to ink over your finished line art, then scan the drawing and use the levels etc boxes (the same ones I listed before) to make the lines nice and crisp and all the same color (I use black for comics, but some people like other colors) Then, just use the fill handle set to "normal" and "rgb" to fill in all the colors.
For quick cell shading, make a second layer, this one blend mode "Multiply" over your colored drawing. In photoshop get the polygon lasso tool and start making shapes where you want the shadow to be. Then use the fill tool to fill in the selection with a color of your choosing (neutral colors towards the gray/faded specturm work best for natural shading, darker colors are more dramatic). The nice thing about putting your shadows on a multiply layer is that you can go over the lines without worrying about covering them up.
Do basically the same thing, with pale colors and the polygon selection tool, on an overlay layer to create highlights.
That's what I wished someone would have told me when I first started making comics. That's the basics, anyway, and can carry you pretty far if you get the hang of them.
If you needed something else and I just managed to ramble about things you already know, sorry, ask me something else ^__^, I always like talking about art, so...
but I will be afk for a week... so any questions won't get answered till I'm back.
One artist to another, hope I helped out a little!

Kyaaaa, this is so pretty and sparkly... ;_; *bows to sparklies* May I ask how you do that awesome sparkly effect? I have nooooo idea how to even start.... @_@ *stupid*
Haha, this kinda reminds me of something I brought up on the forum a while ago (contimplating if Cherry knew how to access the item menu or not). Only this is much funnier. X3

Lepas In reply to jenasu [2004-06-21 18:33:46 +0000 UTC]
ooh, sparklies are easy! I shall tell you how!
first, get your pic up and decide where you want your sparklies to be, then make a new layer and whip out the airbrush tool (this works best with a tablet because you get more variation in size than with a mouse, but you can still do it with a mouse). Make sure that your airbrush is semi-soft, so depending on what program you use drop the pressure (ps) or the hardness(psp), but not too soft because you don't want to lose the color. (prolly between 60-80%) Go crazy with a your color (white is a good color to use, or really pale colors) and make all your little dots, then duplicate that layer and set it on top of your dot layer. Let's call this layer the "glow" layer. Gassian blur the glow layer until you get the desired blur around the dots. (if they aren't glowing enough, try duplicating your "glow" layer and/or setting it to screen or hardlight until everything is glowing just like you want it. Also, try adjusting the saturation/lightness of the layer to brighten up the colors on the glow layer)
sometimes you may want to go back to the dot layer and soften them up a bit with a motion blur, soften, or a light blur, but that's all personal taste. Also, a "glow" filter is really nice to have for making certain things glow quickly and easily, like objects and people. I think you can download one in "eye candy." some sites have older eye candy filters for free, so check those out with google!
cherry trying to access the item menu would be classic rpg world funny! I hope Ian read your idea and uses it! lol
That's all there is to it. May you glow in peace! ^__^

great job
oh yeah, and things like that happen to me all the time o_@; thats why i'm glad there are some RPGs out there that don't let you cast life or pheonix down on someone who ISN'T DEAD..eheh... emulators + impatience = turbo mode = maaaany screw ups + missed info + dead party members...eep

I'm personally the worst at it, because if I haven't built up enough, I get REALLY nervous during big fights, and then my hands get all shakey.
and I die a lot. ^__^
Yes, I do have a webcomic. It's called Zap! [link] Now I'm going to read your other messages. lol
