From a critical standpoint, the planets in the background look a bit "off". And the smaller planet looks like a cut-out.
Not bad for this, but might be more noticeable in a print. I don't know how you did the planets but they are still pretty good, they just don't seem to match the quality of the rest of this.

This is cool but I still like the original cover, maybe since I'm used to it from my old volume 1.
And it's less scary, too.
Oh, and are you totally re-doing all the vol. 1 pages (again)? Or is it just the cover that will change in the reprint?

I think the scary isn't just his expression, but all the red. It looks like he's made a shockwave of blood. But then I'm sleepy and I have no idea what the red fog stuff is.
