Description

Le château de Montagny remonte au 12ème siècle et se trouve dans le canton de Fribourg près de la ville de Payerne. Les vestiges restants dont le donjon, fût construit au 13ème siècle par les seigneurs de Montagny qui était alors une des plus puissantes seigneuries du pays de Vaud. Après les Guerres de Bourgognes en 1478, Fribourg rachète la seigneurie de Montgany et en fit une résidence baillivale fribourgeoise, 75 baillis s’y succèderont alors avec le titre de Châtelains. En 1504 le château et le bourg sont victimes d’un gros incendie, en 1508-1509 le château est restauré et en 1752 le château étant à nouveau en piteuse état, il est alors restauré pour la dernière fois car en 1798 avec l’invasion des troupes française, ce qui met un terme au 320 ans de baillage fribourgeois à Montagny, le château est alors laissé à l’abandon. Le 2 janvier 1802 le château est vendu à un paysan du nom de Jean Terrapon pour 5200 francs et après cela le château devint une carrière à ciel ouvert où les gens venaient chercher des pierres de tailles. En 1989 le donjon de Montagny est cédé à une fondation qui se charge de sa préservation et fait installer un escalier afin de pouvoir aller au sommet de la tour admirer la vue.

A côté des vestiges du château de Montagny se trouve une église attestée par document au 12ème siècle, certainement construite en même temps que le château de Montagny, elle fût partiellement incendiée en 1447 ainsi que le bourg de Montagny par des assaillants fribourgeois qui s’attaquaient à la Savoie ( le château échappa à l’incendie car la garnison avait retiré tout ce qui est combustible avant l’attaque ) , puis après le défaite des fribourgeois et la signature de la paix en 1448 à Morat ceux-ci par repenti restaurèrent l’église de Montagny en 1449 ainsi que le château ( même si les fribourgeois reviendront en 1476 après la bataille de Morat pour de nouveau incendiés et pillés le bourg de Montagny ) La Chapelle fût reconstruite en 1589. Devenue église paroissiale à la fin du 16ème siècle. La chapelle gothique de l’église, l’élément le plus ancien du bâtiment est à présent le chœur de l’église actuelle agrandie une première fois en 1760 puis en 1926, dans le chœur se trouve une fresque du 14ème siècle représentant le couronnement de la Vierge ainsi qu’une imposante statue de la Vierge à l’Oiseau datant de 1340

Nach den Burgunderkriegen im Jahr 1478 kaufte Freiburg die Herrschaft von Montgany und machte sie zu einem Sitz der Vögte in Freiburg. 75 Vögte werden in Montagny mit dem Titel Schlossherr aufeinander folgen. 1504 wurden die Burg und die Stadt Opfer eines Großbrands, 1508-1509 wurde die Burg restauriert und im 1752 es wurde dann zum letzten Mal restauriert, weil 1798 die Invasion der französischen truppen die 320 Jahre Freiburger Vogtei in Montagny beendete und die Burg dann aufgegeben wurde. Am 2. Januar 1802 wurde die Burg für 5200 Franken an einen Bauern namens Jean Terrapon verkauft. Danach wurde die Burg zu einem Freiluftsteinbruch, in dem Menschen nach geschnittenen Steinen suchten. 1989 wurde der Donjon von Montagny in ein Fundament überführt, das sich um seine Erhaltung kümmerte und eine Treppe installierte, um auf die Spitze des Turms zu gelangen und die Aussicht zu bewundern.

Neben den Überresten der Burg von Montagny befindet sich eine Kirche, deren Existenz im 12. Jahrhundert dokumentiert ist. Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts wurde sie zur Pfarrkirche. Die gotische Kapelle der Kirche, das älteste Element des Gebäudes, ist heute der Chor der heutigen Kirche, der zuerst 1760 und dann 1926 vergrößert wurde. Im Chor befindet sich ein Fresko aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, das die Krönung von darstellt die Jungfrau und eine imposante Statue der Jungfrau mit dem Vogel aus dem Jahr 1340
