Description Finally got outside yesterday for a couple of hours after dealing with the flu for the last two weeks.
This guy popped onto the trail in front of me and offered me a photo op.

I wish so badly I could encounter an animal like this! How often do you see things like foxes and lynx, and how far from any human establishment do you usually have to travel to run into them?

Hi
Fox I see all the time. There is an area inside the city I live in that has a quite a few fox living in rather plain view if you choose to look for them. They are tolerant of humans to a point and I think they choose to live where they do because they have protection from their enemies such as coyotes and wolves. Humans they have found are no threat to them at all. I live on the edge of town with a large area of bush behind my house and I have a fox that passes through my yard every day. Also I live in Northern Ontario Canada and outside of town is just bush and more bush.
Lynx on the other hand are plentiful in the area but seeing one let alone getting a decent photo is very difficult. I have only seen 3 Lynx in my lifetime. You have to be persistent and a little bit lucky with these animals. For the Lynx photos I have in my gallery I had to travel about 200 miles north to an area where they are more plentiful in a very remote region of the province.

Whoa! That's incredible. It's nice that you have access to such wilderness-y areas.
