true, but with all the machines of 20s like Cars and stuff, I mean, look at the place where Mako was working, they have that kind of gear and style......it just gives me an impression O.O I could be wrong

yeah... like the 20's. Steam punk is really more late 1800's england/ American wild west. It really seems like they're looking at asia in the early 1900's more, what with the motor cycles and electricity and vehicles... even the clothing seems more depression era mixed with asian reference...

When the creators first announced the Legend of Korra, they said that they were doing a early 1900s Shanghai, China (I think?) type of setting.
So it's set in approximately the same time as steam punk, but just in Shanghai instead.

Yeah, I also found something more modern, something between the XIX and XX centuries, but I really loved his clothes, I have a serious crush on one jackets and overcoats * _ *
I also think that worked out nicely all this modernity and the emergence of Korra, without this I think would be very repetitive relative the legend of Aang.
