The dome was the high water mark of Renaissance building technology, the costliest of building ornamentation, hence it became the ultimate statement of prestige, from St Peters in Rome, St Pauls in London to the Senate Building in Washington DC.

What's this building? The columns are Corinthian, but it has pedimented windows, so I doubt it's a Greco-Roman monument.
