This is gorgeous... the swirling folds of the scarf combined with the graceful violin shape are stunning.

It is a wonderful picture.
Those colours of the scarf make it very charming to my eyes.

Ich fΓΌrchte, der ist im Original gar nicht ganz so. Der obere Teil des Bildes hat beim Fotografieren das Licht etwas stΓ€rker reflektiert

You're a genius!
One day you should definitely do an exhibition with all your violin pictures!

*lol* too much of honour. It is really the perfect photo which deserves all the praise.

But still your pictures have something so personal... you could never ever achieve that with a photograph.

This is beautiful,
did you use any black?
if you don't mind me asking =]

Yes, all too much, if you ask me The whole background is black, but I mixed it with ultramarine blue. It appears so light because the surface reflects the light (bad photo :snif. And on the violin itself I used black, too.
On one of my other violin pictures ([link] ) I used less black (just in a really few places) and did the dark parts mainly with phthalocyanine blue.

oh right, very nice =]
i'm just curious,
since i have never used black to paint before, usually make black it with marine blue and burnt umber.
but i guess i should try it out one day
nevertheless, the colours and light reflection on this violin is lovely

Maybe you should stay with your mixture. I think black is somehow a bad habit to make things darker. The colours tend to lose their brilliance. But hmm...actually IΒ΄ve always used black in my pictures, so I shouldnΒ΄t talk you out of it

It'll be intresting to try out new things, if i don't like it i'll just go back to my old ways =]
and also,
Did you paint this life?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lestriel In reply to Frank0tomato [2008-10-19 16:01:08 +0000 UTC]

No, it was done after a very good photo which I got from a friend of mine. She was like "Do you want something else to paint?" and gave me the photo which she had gotten of the photographer herself.

(Btw, I painted a landscape this afternoon without using black^^ [link] Unfortunately I totally suck at taking good pictures of my pictures )

Your friend must be a very good photographer,
I thought this was painted from life when i first saw it =]
I can never paint from photographs, i just can't seems concentrate, haha
but that also means i can't paint alot of things =[
your landscape is very nice, the bottom half reminds me of the impressionist.
and yeah, i'm like that too i've got a A4 scanner, anything smaller than that i can scan but anything else i can't take pictures off and upload on here
